About Us

Why 28?
Well St Agnes and the Isles of Scilly are twenty eight miles off the south-western tip of Cornwall, England, so it seemed appropriate.

What's so special about our handmade soaps, shower gel and hand wash products?

On our flower farm on St Agnes, Isles of Scilly, we grow the plants, distil the harvest and produce quality oils on one small family run farm. The plants are grown here on St Agnes, in an exceptionally healthy environment which produces wonderful, potent, therapeutic oils. The glycerine base is gentle and moisturising and holds the scent to the last!

Our family have been growing scented narcissi on our thirteen acre flower farm on St Agnes for a century, but the ever increasing foreign imports of showy flowers have seen the demise of our flower industry in Scilly making us seek new ways to use the land. Growing plants for their essential oils seemed to be a natural progression for us and we were lucky enough to discover a very talented man with the ability to make a large steam distillation still and all the information needed to get us started.

It has opened our minds to new and exciting plants and aromas and their therapeutic properties, giving us so much to learn and enjoy. We tried a few handmade soap bases before settling on a particularly good variety of vegetable glycerine, after all the time, effort and care we put into growing the plants from seed and harvesting to produce the wonderful oils we couldn't bear to add them to anything less than fantastic.

We think we've got the balance right with confirmation coming from our customers who have been so complimentary about our handmade soaps being so gentle on the skin with good moisturising and amazing perfumes. We are constantly searching for and developing new plants to give us more varieties to offer so, hopefully the coming months will see new and interesting additions to our list.

We began extraction of oils in 2004, our first being Rosemary grown by one of the few farmers left on the island of Tresco. We were so thrilled with the quality of the oil that it spurred us on to grow other plants and try interesting varieties, ( we've also developed a keen interest in everyone's garden here on St Agnes, just in case they have something new worth trying ! ).

We have had fantastic feed back from those who have tried our handmade soaps and, with the help of our new web site, can now offer a quality product to a wider customer base. We really hope you enjoy using our products and benefit from their therapeutic properties.
