HomeHandmade soap Ingredients
Twentyeight is a range of handmade soaps, hand wash and shower gel produced on St Agnes in the beautiful Isles of Scilly. Our products represent our love of the islands which are like jewels sitting in a stunning blue sea bathed in golden sunshine, or wild with salty winds whipping up the tangy smell of wild plants and seashore herbs.
The St Agnes shoreline is rich with plants such as the Rock Samphire, regularly soaked by the ocean waves, so vital to its health. Inland we see plants more commonly found in the Mediterranean climate like our wonderfully perfumed rose geranium, sweet smelling lavender & heavenly rosemary.
Samphire
A very popular plant to eat and fast becoming a trendy vegetable in fashionable restaurants, the scent of the oil, which we believe is unique, has been described "like an alpine herb". The aroma transports people directly to the sea shore where this plant grows among the rocks getting a regular soaking from the sea, a procedure vital to its growth. Samphire can aid digestion and is a good diuretic.
Rosemary
Rosemary has a wide reputation of being an excellent hair product, said to encourage hair growth, in fact the head seems to benefit greatly from this wonderful herb, as for centuries it has been used to boost the memory and revive tired brains. Perhaps a good soap for students to use in exam time!
Rosemary increases circulation, can reduce headaches and is a useful aid to digestive problems.
Lavender
Lavender has been used for centuries to aid the healing of burns, insect bites and wounds as it has powerful healing properties. It is commonly used in aromatherapy to ease tension and anxiety and to promote a feeling of well being. Its antiseptic quality and gentle nature makes it a very good facial wash for skin problems such as acne. There are many varieties of lavender and we are very impressed by the beautiful aroma of the ones we have grown so far, it is easy to understand why lavender is probably the most widely used oil by therapists.
